About Pen Whispers

A place for words that keep speaking.

Pen Whispers is an independent literary space for essays, history, poetry, memoir and great debates — writing that asks for more than a glance and gives something back on the second reading.

Why the name?

Where ink meets the ear.

A whisper is quiet, but it is intimate. It asks the listener to come closer. Pen Whispers takes that same approach to writing: less noise, more attention; less performance, more resonance.

The aim is not simply to publish words, but to create work that continues its conversation after the page has ended.

The five rooms

Essays

Ideas tested in public: belief, culture, society, books, faith and the questions underneath them.

History

The past approached as a living inheritance, especially African lives and histories too easily flattened or forgotten.

Poetry

Language allowed to compress, sing, break rhythm and say what prose sometimes cannot.

Memoir

Memory made deliberate: place, family, faith, work, becoming, and the small events from which a life is built.

The Great Debates

Ideas placed in honest contention: arguments worth hearing, questioning and carrying forward.

Read slowly. Listen twice.

Behind Pen Whispers

Faraja Majaliwa

Founder

Faraja Majaliwa is a Tanzanian medical doctor, public-health professional and writer. He is the founder of Pen Whispers and works with a team of talented editors to read submissions thoughtfully, refine promising work and publish writing that deserves careful attention.

Pen Whispers remains a literary space first: a home for writing that asks readers to slow down, listen closely and stay with an idea after the page ends.
